About us
With over 10 years experience we have proudly aided countless students achieve greater levels of success. It is known that students who struggle with what they are learning begin to associate the struggles with their entire school experience. We believe that by helping students understand concepts, we are helping them to enjoy their precious school years more. We offer a different, safe and fun learning environment in Adelaide’s North East. Our students follow tailored lesson plans accommodating to their individual strength and weaknesses to maximise their learning experience.
Our story
Previously known as Clever Stars Tutoring we created a tuition centre in 2017 to better help the overwhelming volume of students requesting us for tuition. This was especially true for senior SACE and IB students doing Chemistry, Physics and Specialist maths as well as for students struggling to find help improving their written and verbal English skills. The envisioned learning space was created where students could feel safe and comfortable to ask questions whilst creating memories and building their confidence. We must be doing something right as word of mouth has seen organic growth and the need to rebrand and expand into a new, bigger location in 2021!
Homage must be paid to the dedicated tuition group known as the “Awesome Doggo Lovers” who volunteered and dedicated significant time to building an amazing learning system for students. Our intention was always to teach in an engaging, fun and memorable manner and this has seen Spelling-Bee-Pizza Contracts, Nerf Gun wars, Yu-Gi-Oh matches and chicken nugget parties be successfully employed as a means to teach, motivate and engage students. Today some of those members are working in a law firm and in pathology and are still involved in contributing where they can.
Over the years we have been truly amazed and overjoyed with all the incredible success stories, improvements and friendships our students have formed over the years. From scholarship attainments, incredible grade improvements, to straight A’s through to becoming dux of their school – what our students have been able to achieve has astounded us. We’ve personally seen our students into the start of their Engineering, teaching, Medical Science, Law, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Dentistry etc.. careers and we really just couldn’t be prouder!!!!

About us
Platinum Tuition is a centre dedicated to helping students from year 2 through to year 12 with their learning needs. We have over 10 years experience and have helped hundreds of students in Adelaide. Our teaching style plays an extension and supportive role in helping students through their strengths and weaknesses. Previously operating on Prospect rd, we have come to call the North East our new home in 2021 to better help our students in this area.
I know the answers but my child doesn’t listen to me, how will tuition help?
In the current climate, parents are often so busy with work and commitments that every precious moment with their child should be treasured. Unfortunately, sometimes when it comes to doing work, some students find this stressful and tensions can run high between parents and their children. Often it can help to remove yourself and have a third party come in to help. In the right environment, surrounded by likeminded peers and especially dedicated mentors, students tend to thrive and this can help you save your precious family time for fun activities instead.
We have very wide experience with tuition in private, one-on-one settings, group settings and classroom settings. From our experience, group settings tend to benefit the majority of students for many reasons. In a group setting, when introduced to new topics, students are given the opportunity to self-explore for a few minutes and attempt questions themselves. This is a vital aspect to developing their problem solving and critical thinking. Sometimes in private tuition, certain students can develop a reliance on the tutor and sometimes this translates negatively into their ability to attempt questions themselves first. Group sessions also offer students the ability to develop new friendships with likeminded peers.
For our younger students, the group sessions are wonderful for developing their presentation and editing skills. For our ESL and junior English we help students develop their oral presentation skills and have found this is a lot of fun and works well in the small groups that students feel comfortable in.
We understand that group sessions might not suit every individual and we encourage you to explore all options to see what is best for your child.
What is the maximum number of students per session?
Our group sessions are deliberately kept very small to ensure the best outcome for student learning while maintaining inexpensive prices for parents. Our group sessions range from as small as 3 students and are limited to a maximum of 10 students to a tutor. On average groups usually consist of 4-6 students per tutor.
Our holiday special, revision programs have a maximum of 15 students.
We also have private tuition available.
How are the sessions structured?
Group sessions are organised into year levels and students are assigned to a group depending on their learning needs and capabilities. For instance, a year 9 student who has expressed both interest and capabilities would be able to join the year 10A maths and science group to accelerate themselves.
All sessions run for a total of 2 hours, including a 5-10 minute break if students need it (usually the younger students opt to have a short break). The structure of the session will depend on which class is running. Some sessions are entirely based on helping each individual student with their school work, other sessions are combined with set material as well as helping students with their school work. Contact us for more information regarding which session is right for your child.
Teaching & Student Support
Unless parents have requested otherwise, we provide homework for years 2-10A. We believe that this helps supplement their learning and helps students to better recall and reinforce skills. Students also learn to develop healthy homework habits and we have received so much positive feedback from parents and students regarding the extra work to practice at home.
For our year 11-12 students, we provide or assign copious additional support material such as drills, tests, exam questions if we or they feel they need it. Whilst we encourage them to do additional homework, we also understand that senior years are especially stressful times and do not force any of our homework on them.
Will I be updated on my child’s progress?
All parents can contact us any time to see how their child is progressing.
Our junior students also get to enjoy fun certificates and prizes that are there to encourage their learning.
Can my child bring in schoolwork they need help in?
Yes!! This is what we are here for.
Our classes are all structured in such a way that there will always be time allocated to answering questions from schoolwork. For more involved work, such as essay or project help, make sure the student is attending the appropriate group session in order to maximise the help we can provide.
We run holiday sessions, designed around particular topics for catch up and acceleration. These sessions are seasonal, limited in space and only offered as additional support to our current students. If you’re one of our students, we’ll keep you informed of any upcoming sessions. Students are also able to request topics and sessions they would like covered during holiday sessions.
